Part of the staple diet in Jordan, olive oil is a key component to many traditional dishes. Brittany Cook, a PhD candidate in Geography at the University of Kentucky, joined Sijal for a lecture on the political economy of olive oil production and its ramifications in Jordan.
We host lectures and cultural activities every week in the Fall and Spring terms, and twice a week in the Summer Intensive programs. The lectures span history, politics, music, literature, journalism, sociology, environmental issues, and much more!
