Join us for a lecture (in English) by Dr. Shadaab Rahemtulla from University of Wales: Trinity Saint David on his newly published book "Qur'an of the Oppressed: Liberation Theology and Gender Justice in Islam"

Shadaab Rahemtulla is currently Lecturer in Interfaith Studies and World Religions at the University of Wales: Trinity Saint David. His primary interest lies in how religion can be (re)interpreted to challenge contexts of social marginalization, such as patriarchy, poverty, racism and empire. Shadaab completed his doctorate in Islamic thought at the University of Oxford. Prior to teaching at the University of Wales, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Jordan's School of International Studies in Amman and a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University's Middle East Institute in New York. At Sijal, he will be speaking about his new book - Qur'an of the Oppressed: Liberation Theology and Gender Justice in Islam - published by Oxford University Press.
